Professional Translation Services
The company was started in July 1996 by Heather Batchelor who after completing a B.A. degree in French and German, enrolled to complete her Master’s Degree (French, German and English). Her thesis was entitled “Stylistic and Terminological Problems in the Translation of French and German pharmaceutical and medical texts”.
Heather then proceeded to do a two-year trilingual commercial course in Lausanne, Switzerland at the Ecole Moderne de Commerce et de Langues (French, German and English). She then spent a year studying in Spain, firstly at the language School “Hispanico, Colegio de studio practicas” in Nerja, perfecting her Spanish. She then went on to the University of Salamanca to complete a Certificate of Proficiency in Spanish.
Heather worked for a number years in well-known international organisations, including Agence française de Développement, where she gained considerable translation experience and further knowledge of foreign languages. In 1996 Heather started to work as a full-time translator, establishing H.B. Translation Services cc.
With globalisation and the Internet H.B.Translation Services is now providing translation and editing services in many different countries and 4 different continents.
Heather is a member of the South African Translator’s Institute (SATI) and the Institute of Translators and Interpreters (ITI) in the UK.
